The Barn forms part of several farms and houses and dates back to the 17th Century and overlooks the picturesque church of Saint Mary`s, which itself predates the Barn and was constructed in 1608.
Local myth says that the illegitimate daughter of Bonnie Prince Charlie of Scotland is buried in the Churchyard.

Several scenic walks are possible from the property including excellent picnic spots, tarns and High Dam.
Lakeside towns and villages including Windermere, Ambleside and Waterhead are all accessible by Lake Steamer excursion which departs nearby.
